Sunset in Amsterdam

It was a very long day yesterday getting to Amsterdam from Galway, Ireland.  Brice and I said farewell to Todd, our fun American friend and caught a plane, trane, and busses...and now here we are!

The Amsterdam hostel is cool.  It is huge and brand new and all colored orange...Megan would love it.  We met a couple from Poland and Germany and went for supper with them last night before calling it an early night (travelling so much makes ya tired!).

Today, Brice and I rented bicycles and rode around the streets of Amsterdam.  Everyone here rides bicycles!  Bikes even have their own lanes (besides the road and the sidewalk).  It was a little adventurous and so much fun.

Brice and I rented was a little crazy. I almost wiped out taking this picture.
We had no clue where to go but enjoyed the architecture and trying to navigate.  We stopped at the Anne Frank house where Anne Frank hid during the Nazi occupation of Holland.  It was very intense and interesting....definately makes you think about the world.  I can only imagine what Auschwitz is going to be like.

We stopped on a bridge over one of the many canals to have some coffee and cake.  I had some amazing chocolate cake.  Those Dutch sure know how to bake!  Tonight we are off to see the nightlife and probably the Red Light District.  Gotta see it, right?  Part of the city.  There are coffee shops all over the place (coffee shops don't serve coffee....they serve drugs).  Don't worry mom, I'm not going! Not my style.

Tomorrow, we are off to Berlin.  Amsterdam is very cool though....definately enjoying it!
