Prost!!

A buddy and I made a mistake and last minute planned for the Oktoberfest.  We were in Nurnberg and decided on a whim to hop on a train to Munich.  Arriving the night before the start of Oktoberfest is a bad idea....especially if you don't have a hotel reservation.  We spent about 4 hours walking from hotel to hotel trying to find a vacant room.  Finally at 2 in the morning, we found a Best Western (if you have been to a Best Western in the states, you know it is no Ritz Carlton) and we got the last available room for 235 Euro!  So, learn from my ill planning and book it!

The next morning we met up with some local friends in front of the Braurosl tent.  There was a huge line in front of this tent...and they weren't even letting anyone in until 8AM.  Well, my local contacts were able to sneak us in before they let the massive crowd storm in!  So, we were able to get choice seats!

My Oktoberfest Experience overall was unforgettable.  I can go on and on about what happened throughout the day, but it is really something that you need to experience for yourself and come up with your own conclusion.  It is my opinion that your conclusion will turn out a positive one.  Is it the feeling you get from drinking at 8 in the morning?  The constant singing?  The huge pretzels?  The feeling you get from realizing that you are making a memory that you will never forget?  You be the judge.
