Madaba
April 27, 2007
Madaba was where we decided to sleep the one night we were in northern Jordan. Although we had more taxi driver issues, we eventually made it to the Miriam Hotel, where we had reservations for the night (it fills up fast). We paid our driver and finally were free! I have a good friend who lives in Amman, and she and her boyfriend came down to have dinner with us that night. We went to a great authentic Jordanian restaurant and ended up eating way too much food. We ordered about every appetizer on the menu and then I dared to eat a main course! Needless to say, that pretty much wiped us out after such a crazy day.
Hotel in the heart of Jordan
This is the place to be in Jordan! After a long day of traveling from the south of Jordan to the north, dealing with a taxi driver that spoke no english (and could not read arabic!), he drove us to this nice hotel in the heart of the city of Madaba. Everyone says this is the place to stay in the city, but how nice was it? We walked to our 2nd floor room overlooking the nice pool and a view of the town. Once inside our room, we loved everything about it. It was very clean, very nice, a good size, and perfect to relax in before dinner. The whole place looked new, and the bathroom was a very nice size as well. We used this hotel as a base for exploring northern Jordan, including the Dead Sea and the ancient cities of the north.
