Over to Rome

I didn't have much time left on my trip before I was to head into Germany and Poland for a week of work. I decided to pay a quick visit to Italy before catching a flight up to Frankfurt. So, early in the morning, I flew from Bucharest over to Rome to spend the day there before heading north.
I was happy to be back in Rome, even if it was only for a day this time. It was my favorite city in my 2005 trip. I was fortunate to know someone in one of the hostels near the train station, so I dropped off my things there and then headed out into the city. My plan was to visit the treasury at St. Peter's, something I had missed the last time. I had heard it was full of some amazing relics from the past, but I had no idea how amazing it would be. I walked to St. Peter's Basilica and went inside. The treasury cost a couple euros, but it was well worth it. I could not take pictures inside, so you have to go see it yourself! Among the treasures was the skull of St. Luke (the author of the gospel) and pieces of the cross, but there were several other amazing things to see. Please check it out!
After I was finished there, I headed back to the Colosseum and spent a little time reminiscing. I had made plans to meet up with someone in Florence that evening, so I grabbed my backpack and got on the train. There were some delays, however, and I was not sure if she would still be waiting for me when I got there!
