Entering the church I found the heat of the candle room really nice. I ate lunch with my family at the hotel dining room where they serve great food. The all you can eat dessert buffet at the end was really nice.
There are many trails around the valley, one notably is the "Trail of the Cross" which is marked by crosses as it goes up the mountain. I believe this was the path of the Pilgrims going to Santiago de Compostela, but I might be mistaken.
There is a nice lake at the bottom of the valley where I went paddling with my uncle and two of my cousins. This is really nice to do in the summer because of the birds in the water and the green flourescence from the grass all around the lake. I went up a trail behind the lake to an overlook, the monastery looks really scary from up there, because you can see how it is almost built into the mountain.
Unfortunately, the day I decided to bring my camera up there it was a bit cloudy.
Exploration of the valley gives many option for young children, there is a playground and a stream as well as horses that you can take up the trails.
Coming down with the train is exhilirating because of the risky position of the tracks. At times you follow a river directly and go right past the waterfalls. At most times there is a cliff directly under the left side of the train where you can see some trails and hikers.
A really nice place in the Pyrenees, that while most of the time is too crowded with tourists is a great place to go with kids or for a stroll or hike.
