Hiking near Puigcerda
August 14, 2006
I stayed for a few days in a camp ground just South of Puigcerda with my extended family. At a camp ground in Queixans. My second and third cousins.
We went on a series of hikes. The first was to a lake. A pleasant hike fun with all the rocks on the ground, we were able to jump from one to another and make a game of not touching the ground. At the end of the hike, we reached the lake and tried throwing pine cones to the other side of the lake. My second cousin was able to do it, very impressive! Compared to my throwing it about a quarter of the way across.
The second hike was to a prairie between some large peaks. There are some parts of the mountain made of a red rock typical in Catalonia. Once arriving in the prairie atop the mountain we had a nice picnic with the wild horses. We were able to get really close to them and as it was still August, the young horses were big enough to be playing and running around us.
