I decided to celebrate America's Independence Day in Argentina. I know that I definitely take my independence for granted. Many of my Argentine friends could only dream of being able to travel as freely as I do. The thought of being told that I am not allowed to enter a certain place makes my blood boil. We are all citizens of this marvelous world and no one should have the power to limit us from wandering around our home.
For the special day I decided to pay a visit to a place that I had been to several times before--La Recoleta Cemetery. This cemetery is famed for housing the tomb of Eva Peron (Evita). Evita is greatly known for striving for Argentinean independence. So, it was only fitting that I pay homage to her and her aspirations of freedom for her fellow people.

La Recoleta Cemetery is Buenos Aires' oldest and most celebrated cemetery. It is almost six hectares in size and houses the tombs of many of the leading figures of Argentinean history, including the famed Eva PerĂ³n (Evita). The architecture that can be found there is simply divine! I strongly suggest you spend several hours getting lost amongst the maze of stone and marble tombs while taking in the historical significance of place you are visiting. This is certainly one of the jewels of Buenos Aires.
