Today is not my day. Within 3 minutes of setting out, I dunked both feet ankle deep in the brook (unintentionally). I took a wrong turn. I got in a spat with James (what do you expect when you spend 24 hours a day with someone for 2 months and counting) and was just completely exhausted. I lose my new windbreaker, which was pretty much my favorite garment, and every step ached and took almost all of my energy to complete. If this was the real world I would have called in sick. Instead, I decided to climb a mountain.
It sucked. Plain and simple. Every step was an ordeal and time absolutely crawled by. I changed my plans and decided to stop after 6 miles and punt. I arranged work-for-stay at the Lonsome Lake Hut where I would get 2 meals and a bunk for no charge. I had to move a couple of boxes in the basement, and that only took me about 20 minutes. I consider that a fair deal. I am actually splitting up with No Cheese and Night Rider. Supposedly for the night but I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts longer than that. Their pace is just so much different than mine. We shall wait and see. No worries, right?
So I spend my afternoon napping, catching up on my journal, and relaxing alone. I hope it helps and I am rejuvinated tomorrow. And will someone please remove the song "Rodeo" by Garth Brooks from my head. It's stuck there and will not heed my eviction notice.
