A dream come true
August 13, 2005
For me, visiting Saqqarah was amazing. Iv been fascinated by the ancient Egyptians and their architecture since I was little and now I was standing in front of the first pyramid prototype. I just remember thinking ‘ it IS real!’ When I touched it I felt like, I thought, 'im touching a stone that was placed there by workers almost 4000 years ago, im touching the same stone as he did'. Incredible. I was walking in the footsteps of the ancient Egyptians, yes a path that has been worn down further and further over the years but to me it didn’t matter, in my mind he was the last person to touch that brick. The sheer scale of it was so cool, if only they still let you climb on them. I looked out across the landscape to see the bent pyramid and next to it stood the first pyramid that we know as a pyramid today( if that makes sence ladys an gents, if not, do some research ;-p ). It was a shame I couldn’t get there, that’s the one thing I wish they incorporated in the tour, but then, I am an Egyptologist.
