He's so proud that I actually finished!
I thought I had done everything right. I mean, I had trained for 4 and 1/2 months, I had timed myself relentlessly, done a long run of 28ks. On race day, I went to bed early, I got an okay night sleep (little bit of tossing and turning), and I ate a good breakfast. But apparently I drank too much water. Because when the race was about to start, I decided to needed to use the bathroom yet again. Only about 30,000 other people wanted to do the same. My group had already begun running towards the start line and I still hadn't used the bathroom! It was terrible. I ended up having to find a bathroom about 2 ks after I started which added a good 6 minutes to my time. Not only that, I had forgotten to stretch before the run! What an idiot.
Taking a Seine tour after the marathon. I'm in a lot of pain.
I was so nervous and so concerned about my bathroom situation, I had forgotten to stretch. Plus, while I had waited so long for the bathroom, I lost my group. I completed the race in 5 hours and 6 minutes. I was tired and diappointed. When I met my boyfriend, he was showered and dressed and relaxed. He had finished about an hour and 40 minutes ahead of me and he PRed. So it was a good day for him. That night, after lying on the bed for about 4 hours, we went out to dinner and took a river tour. We went to a lovely restaurant where the waiter prevented me from eating sweet breads (so I owe him my life) and then decided to do something that involved sitting down. I recommend a Seine Tour for anyone going to Paris
. They sound lame, but it's a good way to see Paris. They're comfortable, somewhat informative, and of course scenic.
