Although most of my group hated the recycling center, I thought it was really cool. I guess it's just how I've been brought up, by my parents...who LOVE recycling. We recycle anything our town will take.
Michael, the guy in charge of us for the day, showed us what bottles go where and how to sort everything. Basically, there were big trash bags just full of soda cans and bottles and glass, as well as things that definitely are not recyclable. I don't think anyone had sorted anything at the center in quite a while, and because of the heat, everything had a funk to it. That was not cool...but I got past the smell and had some fun sorting green bottles from the light green and clear bottles, as well as the brown, green and clear glass...I even found a glass that had the Pringles logo on it that I took home with me. Haha, yes...that's right, I took a souvenier home from the recycling center.
Since there were so many of us, and most of the group just wanted to get as far away as possible from the smell of Misión Planeta, we finished sorting everything well before noon and were given the afternoon off. We went into Puerto Viejo for some swimming and food. It felt good to relax after doing something that I know helped make this world a better place. It was a nice reward.
