Jim Morrisons grave

ever so slightly hungover when i woke up! but i managed to get my shit together and we got checked out of the hostel. went to check out pere lachaise graveyard nearby where there's a load of famous folks buried. we saw jim morrisons grave and oscar wildes, as well as one or two others. after that it was down to gare d'alsace to book tickets for an overnight train to barcelona. it was the first time either f us had used the interrail pass so it took a bit of explaining between me, in my rusty french and the young guy at the counter to get it all sorted out. once we had that done we headed for the tube and got to monmarte where i introduced john to crepe's (the proper french ones) and up the steps to the sacre coeur. we hadn't stashed our bags anywhere cos we forgot to ask about it so we spent the rest of the day sitting on the steps in front of the church looking down at an awesome view of paris and people watching.

the train was leaving around five or six i think so we got some food in a little cafe before heading back to the station. we ended up in a four bunk cabin with two french algerian guys who were great fun, they were on their way to barca too to get the ferry to ibiza where one of them was gonna be doing a dj set somewhere. we spent a bit of time chatting and then headed off to sleep.

the first night sleeping on a train took a bit of getting used to with the constant noises and the severe drop in temperature going over the mountains into spain, but all in all it was a good experience and worked out well because we got our travel and accomodation all in one and didn't waste a day sitting on the train.
