Visit to Fort San Domingo/Hongmao Castle

Exited the Red Line's Danshui Station and headed to find the Red 26 Bus.  There are several key dates for the Fort.  They are:

1629 - Fort San Domingo was originally built as a wooden fort by the Spanish
1642 - Dutch expels the Spanish
1724 - Qing Dynasty controls the fort and built a stone wall with four gates around it
1868 - British take over after the opium wars
1891 - British build consular residence next to Fort
1972 - British hands over control to Republic of China

Operating hours are Tuesday thru Sunday from 9 AM - 5 PM.
Admission price is 60 NTD for adults and 40 NTD for students.

NOTE:  Prices at the cafe are somewhat expensive.  A 500 ml of bottled water was 80 NTD.  Two scoops of Swedish ice cream was 160 NTD.  Exchange rate is around 1 USD = 33 NTD.
