I woke up early in the morning and jumped on a train to Interlaken. The name literally meaning between lakes, this city has lakes on two sides and mountains on the other...it is quietly tucked away. The city, however, is not for the quiet or the faint of heart! Interlaken is known for it's extreme sports, from canyon jumping to paragliding, to, well...you name it! After snapping a few photos on the train and immediately after stepping out of the train station, I walked through the city to my hostel. After dropping off my things, I headed back into the city to see what Interlaken was all about. After walking around for a while, I came to a restaurant/chocolatier.
They took the group of us down into their chocolate making facility. Although unlike Willy Wonka's, there was still tons of chocolate everywhere. We were shown how chocolate is make and told about the different types of chocolate, as well as about cocoa butter and the cocoa itself. After the demonstation was over and we were taken through the facility, we were told we could eat whatever chocolate we wanted. Say WHAT? Even I couldn't help myself and I had quite a bit of free chocolate. I can assure you that it was as good as it sounds. I was hoping that I would work it off at some point by walking around the city the rest of the day.
There was plenty to do and see in the city, so that occupied kept me busy. At the end of the day though, I was not sure what I would be doing tomorrow...I didn't have the money for anything extreme.
