The train pulled into Munich and I walked to my hostel. Dropping off my things, I headed into the city centre to see what Munich was all about. To me, the city felt like a mix of modern and old elements. The churches really stood out from the surrounding buildings though, and that's what impressed me the most. It was a little different having a McDonalds, then a shop, then a really old church all in a row. The Rathaus really stood out too, and the square where it was located was really neat. I spent a little bit of time in the churches and watching the glockenspiel on the Rathaus before heading further south. I crossed the river and found the Deutsches Museum, which is all about science and technology. As dorky as I sound for saying it, I really enjoy those things so I headed inside.
For someone like me, the museum was great. Planes, trains, automobiles, demonstrations on electricity, exhibits on space...yeah! It may not be for everyone, but I spent a good chunk of the day there. Afterwards, I headed back into the city centre and spent some more time in the area. There was nothing that really stood out in my mind, though. My foot was feeling a little funny again, but I did not let that stop me from walking around the city. I went back to the hostel and met the 5 girls who were from Australia. We all hit it off right away and grabbed some dinner together.
