Day 5. A busy day in Manaus

So we came over to Manaus on an overnight bus from Boa Vista. We got the two last tickets on this bus and enjoyed the seats right next to the toilet. Very good location for an overnight transfer with busfull of beer-drinking locals...

Having survived this hardly enjoyable ride on Transamazonian highway we went right to the hostel, sharing an overpriced cab with a Canadian couple. We have had our first shower in 3 days and hit the city right after.

Manaus is a full-scale international port even though it is located 1600 km into the continent. Amazon river is so damn huge that these guys even have submarines coming over here, not to mention the transoceanic cargo ships. We run straight into the city to see the major highlights, book a flight out and find a trip to the jungle we were hoping to do the next day. It took us a full day to sort it all out, we were running up and down the city like crazy... We decided to have a nice and relaxing evening for a change and went to see the Harry Potter movie and went straight to the hostel after that. We went to bed early , around midnight, as we were planning to catch the early morning shots of the port, right before our trip to the jungle...
