Hi People, I have been here 2 Weeks now and the time is flying. The Job itself is really interesting and all the People here are really cool, quite a few being Backpackers. We have recently been assigned to certain Rigs, at the moment i'm working with Dee and a German Backpacker called Matt who is cool.
We work on a Rig called RAB (Reverse Air Blast). They drill at either 1M or 2M Intervals and then the air sucks the samples up into a Cyclone which deposits into buckets. The Drillers Offsiders then lay the samples in Rows of 10 and columns of how deep the hole is. Then we have to scoop a rough 2Kg sample for every Interval into a Calico Bag. After this we put every 6 Calico's into a Green Lab Bag. The 3 of us work 2 Days out on the Rig and the Third Day doing paperwork and messing about on the Computers.
Once this have been done we take the samples into Town where they are Sent to the Lab for Testing. That sort of sums up what we do here, I told you it wasn't hard work, lol.
Chris has been assigned to another type of Rig called RC (Reverse Cyclone). He says it very easy going but more boring than what we have to do. Our Day goes very fast because we have more Tasks to do.
The best thing here is the food, I always look forward to a cooked Dinner and Breakfast. It makes you want to stay here, no lie.
After Dinner, most of us go to the Wet Mess, its where we chill out, play pool, watch t.v, play table tennis etc.
Every Friday we all go into Town to the Pub, the only downside is that we have to leave by 10pm cause we get breatholised the next Morning but luckily this hasn't happend yet whilst we have been here.
You can take the test yourself and on both occasions so far i have been over the limit, lol.
The Accomodation is great too, you get your own room with an ensuite bathroom. I think they do it this way because you need your sleep without any disturbances. When i arrived here they never had enough rooms so I some how managed to find myself in H block. This is where all the Directors/Managers stay, lol, plus i got my own T.V, lol. I was told I will have to move out by the Camp Manager but I think he has forgotten because I'm still in there after 2 Weeks, I'm not complaining, lol. I'm hoping i can stay there for the remainder of my 3 Months here.
I think its the best way to make and save a lot of cash very quickly. I cant believe there are so few people that know about this, its perfect for Backpackers.
Finally got some pics uploaded, will keep you updated.
