View coming into Byron Bay, Australia
Hi everyone, from our detour to Nimbin
, we headed back towards Byron Bay not knowing their was a Blues Festival on because it was Easter Weekend. All the Hostels and Campsites were all booked up so we had to settle for sleeping by the beach Carpark in the Campervan, we never minded this because we had done this on many occasions before. From then we went out and checked the Town, there was only a handful of Bars and Restaurants but I knew this already from what people had told me. We had a couple of beers in the Main Beach Hotel and then went back to the Van because we were all fairly tired after the drive and after a couple of joints, lol.
The next morning we woke up and noticed we had a parking ticket and so did every other Campervan in the Carpark.
Sunset! Byron Bay, Australia
I gave the ticket to Dee , he looked at it and ripped it up, I started laughing to myself. We then headed to the beach, couldn't believe how big the main strip was. Anyway we stayed there most of the day and looked round the shops later. We headed out later on and ended up in a Bar called 'Cheeky Monkeys', this is where all the Backpackers go, very strange though because people dance on the tables because there isn't a dancefloor. Towards the end of the night I lost Dee and Chris and as I was about to leave I noticed the rain outside, I have never seen rain fall that fast so quickly. I luckily found my way back to the Van having nearly swam all the way, it was knee deep, honestly! Soon as I got back to the Van, there was Chris and Dee drenched too. We laughed to ourselves, had a few more joints and slept like logs.
The next day we easily booked ourselves into a Campsite because by then everyone was leaving after the Easter weekend. Least now we had the use of warm showers and washing facilities.
The campsite was right next to the main beach and had wonderful views of the most easterly point of Australia.
Whilst on the campsite we saw a couple of lizards, Chris gave them some his fruit bar and surprisingly enough they enjoyed it, lol.
We stayed here for two nights and headed for surfers on Thursday.
