our apartment above American car emporium

Andy:  Well it has been a little while since I posted something here and Emma has been occasionally reminding me to do so, so here goes...

I did get offered a job working as an English teacher for a company called Gaba but I turned it down. They are a big corporation and I feel far more comfortable working at the small local school despite the fact that the hours and the salary aren't the best. I have started working on Thursday nights at a "Shane English" school in Ginza which is downtown Tokyo and is an hour away on the train. They seem to be a good company. Being completely new to teaching and having no prior experience of Japan or it's language I was quite nervous about how things would work out. I have put in a lot of effort so far and though I say so myself, I reckon I'm quite good at it ! Anyhow, time will tell.

My friend Wim from Holland asked me about where we are living, he imagined that we were 'cooped up' in a big high rise apartment with a hundred other families. Tokyo is very crowded and the nation's population is large (125 million) but fortunately for us we live in a quiet little outer suburb, near a subway line, in a unit above an American car company. I'm going to try and upload a photo or two so you can all see.

bye for now
