EAP China Summer + Fall 2005

EAP China: 2 month Intensive Language Program at Beijing Normal University, followed by 4 month term at the Joint Center for International Studies Program at Peking University, with many many side trips inbetween.
This is a restaurant serving cuisine from a minority ethnicity in Yunnan.  Unlike typical northerner/Beijing dishes, the dishes here are usually low in oil and salt, and absolutely delcious, which made it a no-brainer.  Dishes range from 6RMB (for simple sauteed green vegetables) to 25RMB (for sweet and sour chicken, which is similar to what we have in America but tastes so much better).  I highly recommend the sweet and sour chicken as well as the pineapple rice, both of which are kind of Yunnan/southern specialties.  Although the average was around 30RMB per meal per person, if you think of that in US terms, it's less than $4.  Considering this was one of the best restaurants I've come across in China, I'd say it's a steal
