I wanted to see the peonies in Luoyang this spring, so I joined a tour which goes there and a few other old cities in northern China with historical and cultural significance.

Filling up the tour bus at 4.65RMB per liter cost more than 900 RMB

We drove past Tai mountnain on our way to Jinan. There was a moat around the center of the city. The moat had been turned into a nice park with boats and trees along the banks. It looked pretty inviting.

Jinan is a big and modern city, we stayed in the middle of town where it looked like any big city with Pizza hut across from our hotel! From the room, we could see a large park not too far away, and under the park was a huge shopping mall. Our tour guide did not tell us to go shopping there, but I wandered over after dinner, it was only a couple of blocks from the hotel. It's a shopping mall for locals, with tons of stores selling everything from clothings, shoes, watches and a supermarket was there too. I looked around in the supermarket, just to see what stuff they have for sale there. I checked out the dairy section, they did not have fresh milk, only yogurts in the refrigated section, all the milks were either powered or in these floppy bags or  paper boxes, and had a shelf live of 6 months. Obviously can't be fresh milk!

The hotel charges 1RMB per minute for the internet connection.
