Riviera Maya Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

My week in Mexico. After arriving in Cancun, we headed down to Riviera Maya for a few days. We took some side trips to Chichen-Itza, Tulum, and Playa del Carmel. Then we spent the last afternoon and evening back in Cancun.

So far...

Mayakoba Fairmont resort

Things have been really good so far.  We got into Cancun kind of late last night.  Before going to our resort, we stopped in Cancun for dinner.  I quickly found out that I was not going to be able to get my amaretto sours as I do back at home and decided to switch drinks for my vacation.  We wandered around the whole party scene for a little bit and headed down to Riviera Maya really late last night.  Not long after we left, the check engine light went on in the car, so we decided to stop by Hertz to switch cars.  The last thing we wanted was to have trouble in the middle of nowhere while heading to or from Chichen-Itza.  We finally got to our resort around 12:30.  We stayed at the Mayakoba Fairmont resort and it's absolutely amazing.  The area is beautiful.  I did have a little trouble sleeping at first with all of the crazy jungle animals making all of their crazy animal noises, but that's ok.

We'll be staying at the Fairmont as well...I am so happy to hear that the service is excellent. I am wondering what animals are in the jungle?

I've never been to Cancun, but the pyramids look similar to the ones I saw in Mexico City. Is this the resort your staying at because it looks really cool. Anyhoo, thanx for sharing and have a great time!!
