In the middle of nowhere and built on the remains of a Gallo-Roman camp,Brandon château was a part of the Dutchy of Burgundy's military defense up until the 15th century. The 50 minutes tour guided by the owner,Jacques de Masin includes the visit of a passionating exhibition on heraldry:after that,I plan to have my own coat of arms:as charge,a monkey de gueules et d'argent(white)
Brandon is an excellent example of military architecture of the Middle Ages with its upper and lower walled courtyards, the 12th century path around and the 13th century drawbridge tower with two entries(one for the pedestrians).
Outside close to the dovecote without roof, one can have wonderful panoramic views.
