At Concorde, on my way to meet with Secretary Rice when she visited Paris
Secretary Rice stopped over in Paris during her European tour, and the Embassy was all a-tither in anticipation of her 12-hour visit.  My office coordinated the security for her visit, so I was able to help get her and her entourage get settled into the two floors of the Intercontinental Hotel that had been specially cordoned off for that purpose.  I even shared a cup of coffee with her in one of the makeshift conference rooms.  She's very elegant in person, and very nice, in case anybody cares to know.

The following weekend my roommate went home to Strasbourg to visit his parents for a few nights, and I had planned on visiting some friends in Belgium.  Unfortunately, there was a rail strike and I was unable to go, so I wandered around the city and took in some places I had never been to before, namely the Conciergerie.  I have to say, I was a bit disappointed by it.  I was expecting torture devices and prison cells, but apparently most of those are locked away at 36, Quai des Orfèvres, the police headquarters.  Oh, well.

I've always wondered how she is in real life because she carries herself so well.
