Driving around near Egilsstaðir

It looked like to be a good day today. Yesterday we found a good handout about Egilstadir and region. We decided to have a walk in the largest Forrest in Iceland near Hallormsstadur and go to the Lake Lagarfljot (where a Lakemonster is sleeping, as the sagas says). The Forrest was full of larch, pine and other trees. There was also a nature trail to learn names of the different trees.
Next stop was the well known Hengifoss. One of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. After totaly 2h hiking we were back and did some pictures of the impressive Hengifoss and Litlanesfoss, framed with beautiful, long and regular basaltic pillars.
Near Snaefell we were looking for a Hot spring. What a overstatement for a Hot spring, as we found it. It was just a little creek with hot water. Nothing more. Including us, there were about 5 other cars looking for the spring. I just saw it with my binoculars because it was a realy bad road and i dont wanted to drive it with the polo. We also visited the Halson Reservoir, the biggest building in Iceland. It was a Dam to get electricity. It was a realy controverse project because a big area has been flooded for the water reservoir.
For Dinner we decided to go to Seydisfjördur to the Hotel Aldan (http://www.simnet.is/aldanhf/). Known for his Catch of the Day. Dinner was realy tasty in a totaly romantic interrieur. Seydisfjördur is a nice little town in his own fjord which makes it a kind of exclusive.
