The saddest day of summer...

I have to interrupt this blog to tell a sad tale. June 23 was the best day of summer 2010 - of all of 2010 actually- by far. But it was also the worst day, because it was the day my travel companion ran away to the Alaskan wilderness. My stuffed animal, Donkey. I just don't know where he went. He was there in my hotel room when I left that morning. I know that for a fact because I sleep with him and had I left him on the plane the night before I would have noticed that right away. But he was gone that night. At first I figured he was tossed in with the laundry, of course I bothered housekeeping, the housekeeping supervisor and the front desk almost non-stop the rest of the time I was there. I tore apart the room no less than five times. But nothing.
A new Donkey appeared under my tree on Christmas morning of 2010. I'd like to think it was the same old Donkey, having trekked all the way to the North Pole from Anchorage and asked Santa for a ride home. He wasn't wearing his Denver t-shirt, but I gave him a sweatshirt that says Boston on it instead. I can't have my Donkey just running around naked!
