We went Biwako valley ski resort to see autumn colors. With going up in the cable car, we could look out over Lake Biwa and Otsu city. We enjoyed walking a skiing slope from the summit of Mt.Utimi(1,108m) to Mt.Horai(1,174m). At first it was drizzling. For the strong wind , nobody could open an umbrella there. When we reached the summit, a rainbow appeared. The view from the skiing slope was so wonderful that I felt this place was worth climbing. On our way home from Biwako valley ski resort, we dropped in Enryaku-ji. Enryaku-ji is a Tendai monastery and a world cultural heritage located on Mt. Hiei in Otsu-shi . Saicho(767-822) established this temple complex and the founders of Jodo shu, Soto Zen, Nichiren Buddhism all practiced asceticism at Enryaku-ji. The power of this denomination was very powerful. So Oda Nobunaga felt hostility to it. He had set this mountain on fire and burned their temples down.  As mentioned above, Enryaku-ji is a historic famous place.
