Bath
Facing four months with 30 strangers, I decided that I needed a few days alone to adjust to the entire idea. I tacked three days on to the beginning of my trip and headed for Bath before joining up with the group. In hindsight, I'm not certain why I ended up choosing Bath--at the very least, I did not need two and a half days there alone. Had toyed with the idea of heading to Glastonbury or Wells for a day and now wish I had-- after visiting the abbey and the Museum of Costume, I ran out of ideas and wandered the town until nightfall. During the summer, the reconstructed Roman bath is lit with torches--my favorite sight in the city. Stayed in the Parade Park hotel right off the gardens, in sight of the abbey, an easy walk from the bus and train stations.
