Arrived at Andys about 1, off to nearby pub for lunch. Walked off effects of lunch round shops before setting off for heathrow. Sat nav tried to take us wrong way but as usual ignored female voice giving directions and found my way to car park with blokes unerring sense of direction. Hope it was the right car park and that car will be there on return.

Very cicvilised check in at heathrow, no queue, slight panic when left check in desk without boarding cards as check in clerk not really with it. Returned to desk to claim boarding cards. made our way through security - forgot to put my phone in th escanner tray (epic FAIL) and was thoroughly frisked for my pains. Worryingly slightly enjoyed the experience but think would have enjoyed more if it had been female security.

lounge very busy....(so much for predicted quiet day!)...flight called on time, boarding straightforward...made way through empty business class to our seat near the back...mental note to travel business class one time before i die....looks comfy. Good seats on upper decks (thanks for advice Ken)...

Settled in for long flight sustained by some good films...lates Shrek (borrowed plot of 'Wonderful Life' some funny moments)..Green Zone (better than average thriller with Matt Damon about US failure to find WMD in Iraq), Clash of the titans (special effect laden, stars there for the money load of hokum)...les watched 'The Jones' (David Duchovny) and some Jennifer Aniston (yeuwch!) thing.

Only downside to flight was occasional turbulence -not Les's top inflight experience - but not too severe. In flight service faultless -drinks at regular intervals, hot towels, delicious food. Only other disturbance was a screaming baby....

Eventually, having slept for a few hours we landed at Changi Airport on time. I had found a lounge on the Singapore airlines website -the premium Plaze lounge -HK$23 per person for shower, rest , internet and food - we caught the skytrain to terminal 2 and wandered around for 15 minutes (les increasingly stressed) before we found out the lounge was closed. not impressed. Went back to Ambassador transit hotel, HK$71 for 6 hour use of room and shower. Bliss. Managed a few hours sleep before we set off at 10 to catch next plane at 23.55.
