We spent our Independence Day on a plane. Our flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong was scheduled to leave at 12:35pm. We sat on the plane delayed due to weather until about 5:30pm. The view as we were arriving was well worth the wait. The cool thing about these Chinese airlines is that they have a setting on the TV where you can view a camera mounted underneath the plane. It is so neat. So as we were landing, you could see all the little mountainous islands and skyscrapers that make up Hong Kong.

We missed out whole afternoon itinerary in Hong Kong. By the time we got there we headed straight to the hotel, dropped off our bags and went straight to dinner. We didn't eat until 10:30pm.

After dinner we put the kids to bed and snuck out to see the city. Our curiosity was too great when we saw all the lights. We walked up and down Nathan Ave., one of the main streets on our side of the island. It was close to midnight and every store was still open there were tons of people walking around shopping. The roads were filled with buses, cars and people all bustling about. Kitty later told us that the stores don't really open in the morning until 11am or noon time.

I love Hong Kong.
