Pushing the cable car.

Well after the heat of New York followed by the cool of Seattle, we were expecting some gloriou California sunshine in San Francisco, with temperatures to match.  How wrong we were!  Arrived on Sunday to what felt like mild weather, but a trip to Fisherman's wharf to see the golden gate bridge disappear completely in the legendary fog soon showed us what we were in for.

Took our first death ride on the powell-hyde cable car, and had a relatively early night Sunday.  Got up on Monday and took the cable cart up to Lombard street to walk down the crookedest street.  Then went up the Coit tower for some good views of the Bay before taking a bus ride to the Golden Gate bridge for some photos.  Finally took the bus/streetcar back to Pier 33 for our evening tour of Alcatraz, which was awesome.

Yesterday went to the painted ladies (not a seedy club, but a row of victorian houses) and took a bus out to Golden Gate park before coming back to union square for a look round the shops.  Went over to Fisherman's Wharf last night for a few beers and ended up in Hooters, which was not the owl sanctuary we were expecting ;-)

Bit of a laid back day today, planning our next few days before Vegas.  Thinking of driving to LA over the next 2 days, then moving on to San Diego.  Will keep you posted.
