The painted ladies, San Francisco

OK so the last blog we were due to leave San Fran, which we did on Thursday, after queueing at the car hire place for 2 hours!  Our car was typically American, the website said 4 door economy, so they gave us a 3.5 litre Dodge Charger.  Lucky petrol is half the price here than back home!

We set off from San Francisco and got onto highway 1 which hugs most of the coatline down to LA and beyond, which gave us fantastic views of the pacific, but wasn't particularly fast, as many parts are uphill and downhill curves.  Liam took the first stint from SF down to The Big Sur, where we got a burger and swapped shifts.  I finished the journey off to Santa Barbara, arriving at about 9pm (8 hours after we set off!)

Went to the beach in Santa Barbara today, very nice place, there's some serious money in this city!  We then took the US-101 down to Malibu where we dipped our toes in the pacific before moving on to Santa Monica.  We are now in our hotel on Venice beach, where we are trying to avoid the many weirdos that grace the boardwalk below!

Heading to LAX tomorrow to get rid of the dodge, then hopefully into LA for a couple of nights before we travel to Vegas, possibly by convertible Mustang as Liam hasn't shut up about it since he saw someone get one in at SF!
