check out Liz's funky fresh new hairdo!

Today was a lot more productive than I thought it would be. When we exited the cruise ship, I made sure to be strategically placed so that we would be one of the first ones out. I don't know how Liz and I missed each other, but it was raining hard and I was insanely tired so we ended up waiting for each other for about 40 minutes. Liz finally found us under the bus awning waiting for us, scooped us up and took us to the Central Train station where our hotel was near.

She found us a place to have breakfast and refused food or drink! I downed some OJ and a baguette, got some strength back, and then Liz showed us around a main street of Oslo and took us to the Nobel Peace Center which I really wanted to go to.

Gorgeous building, I totally want to get married inside here!
Man it was raining dogs and cats! I don't know how Liz walks around without an umbrella!! Liz showed us a beautiful park where an ice skating rink is during the winter, the main streets of Oslo, and the gorgeous dock where ferries take you to an area of Oslo where all the museums are.

The Nobel Peace Center was not what I expected. They have incredible technology used for the mostly-interactive exhibits, but the entire floor dedicatd to Obama was a bit strange and ridiculous. Plus, the information they have drilled down on each Nobel Peace Prize recipient was shallow at best. For 80 Kroner, I'm not quite sure it's worth it. They need a better curator for sure.

She left us afterwards, dangling a tantalizing road trip around Norway for next June with Sal and Belinda which I am so envious of!! we also caught up a bit, and I headed back to the hotel while she returned to her car because I was dizzy from the day catching up with me.

I wanted to sleep for an hour and then go with Andrew to the wooden housing area, but I was in some serious discomfort so I asked Andrew to go without me and I slept for 4 hours, catching up from the previous day. I guess I still have jetlag because here I am at 4am again, up and blogging and wishing it were time for breakfast already!

When Andrew returned I felt bad that I had missed out on what seemed like the whole day, so I quickly grabbed my bag and rushed out, determined to salvage the last couple of hours of daylight. I basically retraced Liz's route to the marina and also got to see the old fortress she pointed out on the left side of the harbour.

When I returned, Andrew - in a stunning display of forethought, went and retrieved our tickets for the next day at the train station.

Oslo Ice Bar!
We journed back to the center of town to have all-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ (nowhere as good as LA, but much, much better than the food we've been eating for the past few days), and then go to the ICE BAR! We were soooo excited and giddy. Apparently we like to do kitchy things together, haha =)

We had a great time at the ice bar. I tried to lick lots of surfaces and threaten to embarrass him. Andrew bought me my first drink since we've known each other, "quality over quantity!" and we slid around, watched people break their ice glasses, and enjoyed the crazy ambience. Now, Norway was cold and dreary, but for some reason when you step out of an Ice Bar, it becomes warm and balmy and bright in comparison!!

great to see you too! Thanks for picking us up in the crazy rain even though you weren't feeling well =( Your presence really saved the day due to the bad weather!

It was so great to see you again and again, I'm so sorry I was too sick to keep it up. But from I read, you caught up on some sleep, so I guess it was all good after all. :o)
Glad you had a good time, even in the miserable weather.
