Today was the highly anticipated Fjord Cruise and the bus trip. Between the two of these modes of transportation, you're supposed to see a ton of beautiful sights along one of the more famous fjords from Flam to Gudvangen. It did not disappoint, but wow the weather was bad! The fjords are FREEZING cold!
Flam was surprisingly gorgeous!! The village is set at the mouth of a fjord that absolutely gives the most tremendous dusks and dawns. There are little pockets of weather between these sky-reaching mountains, so you'll find rainbows, sheets of mist and enormous waterfalls everywhere! It's gorgeous, and what a treat for my poor eyes, that have never seen such great heights of green! I would definitely recommend a couple of days here just to take in the beautiful wonders, go hiking, breath fresh dewy air.
On the way to Bergen, there is a crazy boat that takes you for about 2 hours inside the fjord. It rained on us, it blew us to shreds, it was not lovely at all. You really had to absolutely be in love with the fjords to ignore how icy cold and wet it was! Then there was a bus ride that zig-zags you through a beautiful town that has high waterfalls, deep picturesque valleys - once again everywhere you looked, there was something not only beautiful, but awesome and tremendous in its sheer magnitude. What a blessing to see something so audaciously carved out by the ice sheets but healed up by nature's greenery.
