Since it'd be my 1st time in the area, she recommended to take the Hop on Hop off tour bus in Hollywood to cover all the touristy stuff. So after picking me up, we drove to Hollywood. Keith has gotten an SUV and the passengers were: Keith, Sue, Jerome & me. Traffic was insane and it took us about 2 hours to arrive in the Chinese Theater, where poor Daniel has been waiting for us for hours literally. So sorry... We both have been in contact for quite a while and it was so nice to finally put a face and voice to this new friend.
It was so nice to walk along and see all the celebrity footprints. We felt like celebrities, yay! Ok, let's get the party started. We bought our tickets for the bus and were ready to leave. The bus was a double decker one and we went to the top. It was so warm and sunny, great!
The tour started driving along the famous streets and they were pointing the most interesting stuff. It was a cool way to see Hollywood, but after a while Daniel suggested to get off the bus and walk for a while. Super! Daniel grew up in L.A. so he was the perfect guide. He was even showing us where he used to party, hehe. We walked down Sunset Blvd. and he was pointing all the interesting famous places. Suddenly we arrived to a cool bar/restaurant: Saddle Ranch.
Everything there reminded me to a Far West tavern.
Not it was time for me to ride the bull, scary! I asked the operator to be gentle, since I've never done this before and he was really kind. Well, this looked so easy at TV but wasn't that easy. The guy was nice and didn't shake me that much. I was getting more confident and at some point I was more worried about my hair and looking nice, hahaha. Well, I succeeded and didn't fall down, a new cowgirl, yay!!! Jerome even made a video of this, so there are proves.
Ok, let's keep on moving. We walked for a few blocks and decided it was time to catch the tour bus. It took quite a long time until it arrived and we noticed why: the awful traffic! We kept on with the tour visiting Beverly Hills and the famous Rodeo Drive, $$$. Everything looked just like in the movies and was very nice but it was getting a bit windy, brrr. This tour was taking much longer than expected... Finally we arrived back to the Kodak Theater complex by 6:30 pm.
We tried to go into a restaurant, but it was packed, well the Lakers were playing that night and everybody wanted to watch the game. While deciding what to do, we took a walk around and got some pictures.
Mmm, the match might be ending by this time, better going upstairs and check how the Lakers were doing. Wow! The bar was 110% packed, but we found Jerome and a spot for us. It was a close end, but the Lakers won and all the people were super happy, except of Jerome, sorry big guy... but it was good that the locals won. Remember the discount we got the next day ;)
After a while the place got empty and we got our table. I loved the fact they had screens on each table. So you can place your order, split the bill and even play, how convenient for the customers and also the waiters since they don't have to do much.
It has been a long but super fun day and I could hardly wait until tomorrow. But it was time for me to go to back home and sleep. Keith drove me to Dan's and we agreed to meet next morning in Santa Monica.
Day 1 in L.A. = Successful!!! :)
