So our adventures in Asia are over. Whilst we were in this part of the world we thought we would head down to Perth to visit Kay. We arrived rather bleary eyed due to the early hour of the morning and after a quick drink crashed into bed. Perth seems like a really nice city and we have spent the last couple of days checking out some of the sights and eating lots of yoghurt and cheese which we have been craving since we left India.

We went out to John Forrest national park, it was pretty sweltering but it was great to be in eucalyptus forest. Tall bizarre tress called grass trees grow everywhere and all the plants seem to be spiky. We went to a great pub where the wildlife comes to you. We could watch Western grey kangaroos lounging in the shade, licking their arms to keep cool. Kookaburra, Galas and noisy parakeet hung about the tables waiting for easy pickings and huge magpies strutted about on the concrete. Even though it was about 40 C we decided to take a walk and explored the eucalypt forest which was stunning and very fresh smelling.

The next day we took a trip to Perth zoo and got a behind the scenes tour of the native species breeding programme and the reptile house. It was fantastic to see the great work they are doing at the zoo and we felt very lucky to get face to face with some of the rare Australasian fauna.
