the second section to the park is the Dales Gorge section, which is the more visitor friendly section as the roads are sealed and the camping is much much cheaper. the hikes are also much much easier except at the start and the end getting down into the gorge, after that it gets boring.
fortescue falls was pretty dry at this time of year but would look amazing during the wet. Fern tree pool is as picturesc as it gets surrounded lush green vegatation and towering canyon walls. also the pool is fairly warm as the waterfall that feeds it is super heated by the sun. it feels like warm tap water if you go under it.
circular falls was none existant at this time of year, but the pool was still nice, though cold as it rarely gets sunlight, it was not nearly as lush as fern tree pool. perhaps the coolest part of the walk was man made. halfway between fren tree pool and circluar pool is a barren section, where over the years people going by have created rock wish men, so there are now hundreds of them of all shapes and sizes in this little clearing. out of the two sections of the park the hamersley section is so much better. it is the only time i have felt i was really exploring or adventuring whilst hiking.
