Los Angeles, originally named El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles del Río de Porciúncula (The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels of the river of Porziuncola) aka the City of Angels aka La La Land, or what I like to call the City of Lost Angels is where I grew up. What better place to have a meet up where old and new travbuddies collide with some old LA friends.
During our super secret Las Vegas meet up I had mentioned to Keith and Mel the idea of once again getting together for fun, camaraderie, and good old fashion debauchery. We all had agreed that an LA meet up would be a great Idea. A few weeks went by, and one night after surfing travbuddy I had noticed Yadilitta aka Yadira aka Yadi aka Yadi Dadi she likes to Party, was flying in to LA for a few days on her way to a new adventure in Australia. What better time to meet up than by celebrating Yadi’s endeavor with the entire travbuddy posse. Let the adventure begin!
I flew into Burbank Wednesday night before the meet up. Figured I'd get an early start. After a night of drinking at the local wine bar by a friends house where I was staying, I prepared for our first day's activities. I borrowed a friend's car and drove down to Hollywood to meet up with Keith, Yadi, Sue, and Jerome.
They were running late so I decided to explore Hollywood Blvd and some of the back streets. I parked at the Kodak Theater parking structure at the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Avenue. The Kodak Theater is home to the Academy Awards. It is part of the Hollywood and Highland complex, which houses various restaurants and stores. Across the street is the El Capitan Theatre where the Jimmy Kimmel show is filmed. Next to the Kodak Theater is Grauman's Chinese Theatre where many celebrities have placed their handprints and signatures in the cement in front of the theater entrance. . Along the side walks of Hollywood Blvd are the many stars which make up the Walk of Fame. Each star represents celebrities from television, film, music, and radio.
I decided to walk past the theater down to Orange street and Franklin Avenue where the Magic Castle is located.
I finally received a call from Keith, they finally arrived! It was finally time to reunite with Sue, Keith, and Jerome, and after weeks of messaging back and forth, meet the one and ony Yadi! I was great to finally meet and begin our LA adventure! We purchased our tickets for our double decker bus tour through Starline Tours. The tour started at the Chinese Theatre and looped through the city.
Our first stop was Sunset Blvd which is famous for its music venues, comedy clubs, bars, and dance clubs. Our first stop was The Comedy Store which has featured every known comedian from the past and present! After We cruised down the street to the Saddle Ranch for some lunch. The Saddle Ranch Restaurant is known for is food, music, and mechanical bull! I figured since this was Yadi’s first time in LA, she would have to ride the bull. After a few tips on how to keep her balance on the bull, (from my many experiences riding it drunk J), she was ready to ride! Yadi showed that bull who was boss!
After our Saddle Ranch Adventure we walked up the strip to the next bus stop to continue our tour passing many famous venues like th house of blues, the Viper Room, and Whiskey a Go Go to name a few.
After our bus excursion, Angel drove down from Orange County to meet us for dinner. Everyone was hungry so we decided to eat at uWink restaurant after watching the Laker vs Boston game! Go Lakers!!!! Jerome was hoping for a Celtics win, but Lakers went on to beat the Celtics 83-79 to hold on to the title. Jerome wasn’t to happy about that, but better luck next time! Lol… Anyway, uWink was a great dining experience that allowed us to order our food on a touch screen and play games while waiting for our order to arrive! After a long day we decided to part ways and meet up in the morning!
