You get Crescent Beach pretty much to yourself when you arrive at opening.
Blessed with yet another sunny day, we met friends at Crescent Beach this morning. There are quite a few beaches around here, most being state property with admission charged. Crescent Beach is one of our favorites and I’ll give it a separate review. Since our friends have a daughter two years old we wanted to arrive early so they could get her back home in time for her 1PM nap.
Witnessing all the traffic snafus yesterday made us a bit wary of getting in to the beach on a Saturday, so we showed up ten minutes before 9AM, opening time. This worked out nicely, as we were fourth in line when the ranger showed up to unlock the gates. Once again the warmth of Maine people shone through, as the ranger said “two adults and one child?” when I pulled up. As a former resident I knew the cut-off for children was twelve, and quickly corrected her that we were three adults. She complimented us for our honesty and it wasn’t until after we parked and I counted my change that I realized she had charged us Maine resident rates (they charge more for out-of-state). Yeah, we were back home again
