Bye, bye Bar Harbor

Last chance for another Bar Harbor breakfast, and this morning was another old favorite, Jordan’s Restaurant.  Located on Cottage Street on the same end of town as our hotel, this work-a-day diner was crammed as always with both locals and tourists, most clamoring for their blueberry pancakes.  The food isn’t spectacular, but that is no complaint because they turn out a respectable omelet in very good time.  The bustling clamor of Jordan’s is part of the fun, and the typical result is quickly downing your food in sync with the surrounding commotion.

This helped us hit the road on schedule by 10AM and we battled road construction through Ellsworth to be southbound on Route 1.  But now it was a trip down memory lane for Kim and me as we rambled past familiar but nearly forgotten places.  There are many sweet little coastal towns along this stretch and even though we didn’t stop anywhere we could recall quite a few previous visits.

You know; a chef isn't a real chef until he can produce a decent omelet, which is much harder to do than it seems.
