Our daughter finished her school year this week and we had planned a homecoming to catch up with familiar places and old friends. Kim and I both call Maine “home”, though Spencer is always quick to point out she is the only native. We departed Maine just before she started kindergarten, however, so her memories are not very distinct and we thought it would be cool to take her on a tour of our favorite places before spending time with a few folks we were fortunate to know as neighbors during our years in paradise.
The itinerary would include three nights in Bar Harbor to explore Acadia National Park (Spencer has been to the top of two peaks here, carried once on Kim’s back and once on mine when she was nine months old) and Monhegan Island so Spencer could see where her parents got married. Our daughter has yet to witness Monhegan and this will be our first time back since our wedding day fifteen years ago. We were still a month early for our wedding anniversary, but we had shared a first kiss here as well almost exactly eighteen years ago to the day.
A great way to kick off the summer.
