Highway blues

We were leaving Sea World in San Antonio, driving to San Diego, when the car completely died. 200 miles from San Antonio and in the middle of nowhere! It was midnight, too late to do anything, so I took my sleeping bag and slept on the side of the highway. The next morning, we hitch-hiked with a Mexican truck driver to the nearest town almost 50 miles away, Sonora.

Sonora was a tiny, middle of nowhere town. We called a tow company and had to pay US$175 to tow the car. The mechanic was closed as it was a Sunday so we stayed till the next day, for him to say that the car was completely dead. *sigh*

We had to get rid of the car so sold it to a local mechanic for $20 (Mathilde had bought it for $2000). So we ended up taking the bus again after all that hassle. Sonora to San Diego was a 25 hour journey and we crossed 2 time zones.
