Inca Trail Day 3

We all had a bit of trouble sleeping last night. The way the trek executed left us at our campsite on the 2nd day very early in the afternoon. As a result we all ended up taking a nap because we were pretty worn out. We were woken up for dinner and then tried to go back to bed again pretty early on, but we all tossed and turned. So, none of us was all that well rested for day 3 of our adventure.

Once we got on the trail we started climbing the 2nd mountain pass. Not quite as steep or high a climb as Dead Woman Pass, but it was still pretty tough, especially with how tired we were from the previous 2 days. On our way up we came across another Inca site. Not quite as spectacular as some that we had already seen, but all of them were really impressive.

Once we got to the top this time it was all downhill from there. Victor, our guide, told us that there were 3,000 stairs going down until we got to our last campsite. I am glad I spent a few soles on a couple of trekking poles because my knees were starting to ache by the time it was all over.

We finally got to the 3rd campsite. It seemed odd to me that this campsite had running water, a bar to buy drinks, hot showers, and various other comforts. It all seemed very out of place. But we all had a few beers as we relaxed.
