It's a happy birthday for me, and a goodbye Lima (For now) for Yadira
It's my birthday!!! I don't pay any attention to my birthday usually, but since I'm in Lima for it I might have to acknowledge it. I do have my walking shoes all ready to go. My walking shoes are nothing more than flip-flop sandals, but they're comfortable enough. Since I woke up late and missed breakfast I felt that food would be priority number 1. I had read about a few eateries in a guide book and decided to find one.

After lunch I wandered down toward the ocean and wandered aimlessly for quite a while seeing everything I could see and soaking up the Lima atmosphere and just having a great time. After a few hours I was getting a bit tired and wanted to head back to the hotel room to relax for a few minutes.
TravBuddy yadilitta was going to swing past the hotel in the early evening to talk for a while before we met up again later for her going away party (She's going to school in Oz for a year). After talking with Yadira for about an hour I was back out on the street thinking about dinner.

I knew in order to get to Yadira's party I'd have to figure out how to navigate the taxi cabs of Lima. Wow, are there a lot of them. And I don't speak particularly good Spanish, which would make things even more difficult. My inability to speak proper Spanish was driven home earlier in the day when I stopped by for a truffle at a chocolate shop. I ordered a chocolate truffle, but I mixed English, Spanish, and French in my attempt. It was definitely worth a chuckle when I realized what I'd done.

Yadira's going away party proved to be a wonderful experience, once I was able to communicate to the taxi driver where I wanted to go. I tended to stick to the crowd that spoke English, for obvious reasons. But everyone at the party was wonderful. I had my very first Pisco Sour, and after hearing about them for weeks from Yadi I am happy to say that they lived up to advance billing. Good drinks, good food, great people make for a wonderful night.
