My favourite place in the world so far. There really are no words to describe the Grand Canyon. Its one of those wonders that takes your breath away when you're there and after you've gone you can't quite believe that you were actually there and actually experienced it. We didn't do any of the trails, we just did our own thing. I recommend going away from the "touristy" viewing points that are surrounded by fences. Go elsewhere and you find yourself sitting off the edge of the rock with nothing seperating you from the bottom of the canyon. Thats where you get the best views. And definitely go at sunrise and sunset, an amazing sight.
We got up at about four in the morning to see the Grand Canyon at sunrise and, still dressed in our pyjamas, we made our way to one of the viewing points which we had been told was the best place to go for sunrise (I cant remember the name if it- North Rim comes to mind but that could be wrong). It felt like we were standing around waiting for what seemed like ages, but when the sun began to peek over the horizon it all made sense and was worth it. There were alot of people that came to see the same as us and it made it difficult to get photographs without heads in the way, but if you go early enough you should get a good position on the rock to get the best photographs.
