To go on the cheap, fly ryanair to Biarritz, or Pau with Ryanair, the low fairs airline and its reliable, or get the train firect from Saint Pancres in London direct (14 hours).  You can stay in Cite Saint Pierre for a donation only, its about 2 k from the town centre with regular free busses.  Its clean and comfortable, and you are expected to help clean up, so its a community of sorts.  There are a god few hostels in the town, but better stay toward 2* hotels about e20 p/n/p/p, eating; you can eat in an italian, near saint Josephs Gate, its ridiculously cheap, I've rarely eaten so cheap in my life before and the place is spotless and so clean, its meant for people volunteering but anyone can eat there.  Drinking can be expensive, but if u stick to wine, a pichet costs about e7/e9 of house wine and beer about 4e for a 'distinge' (pint) again there is a place (an international bar of sorts that charges 50cent for beer.  Being honest I could write for days about the place, if u'r goin let me know or drop me a message on facebook etc or whatever suiots yourself and I will attempt to answer all questions as accurately and confidently as possible.  One last thing, be open minded, irrespective of your belief system or practising or not it doesnt matter, this place will blow you away honestly, and Im a firm believer in making up your own mind.  Chat to people who have been, you'd be hard pressed to meet anyone who has gone and did t love it, the craic is 90 (brilliant) at night, and its not a bad spot to meet new people either!!!
