From L.A. to Taipei

My trip actually started from MCI in Kansas City...18.5 hours flying time to Taipei, not counting layover time in Phoenix and LAX. These airlines are really starting to suck with their baggage charges. But, what's a traveler to do except take it on the chin and keep on smiling! I still hate all these nickle and dime charges. Even the airport parking rates are going up. So many fees these days to discourage travelers...well, enough of my complaining. ;)

In L.A., I met up with Erin at LAX to take one of her bags to Taipei since I only had one checked bag. We were both flying to Taipei on the same day and arriving an hour apart, but on different flights. Brett was waiting at the airport for the two of us, and once Erin's flight arrived we drove to their apartment. The last time I was in Taipei Brett and Erin had a different place, so this was my first visit to their new home. We made it sometime around 11 pm and this was going to be a short visit for me. My flight to Kuala Lumpur and then onto Indonesia departed the next day at 3 pm. After a tour of the apartment and a quick visit, it was time for bed. Brett decided to work from home in the morning so he could drive me to the airport before going into the office. THANKS, Brett!!!

The next leg of my journey was aboard airasia to Malaysia. I wasn't really looking forward to it because I had a 24 hour layover in KL with no plans to do anything.
