Hong Kong Stopover - 2005
I arrived late in the afternoon and made my way to my hotel in Kowloon. I had chosen to stay at the BP International House near famous Nathan Road shopping area.
All the rooms had just been refurnished and were all nice and new.
The hotel was in a great location just back from Nathan Road and the Temple street night markets with a 7 eleven convience store and supermarket across the road. You can also use the free internet in the hotel lobby.
I decided to head out and check out the night markets.

The market opens around 2pm everyday and starts to come alive around 6pm you can buy everything imaginable and very cheaply. There are watches and leatherware to clothing and souvenirs, DVDs, CDs as well as a variety of food stalls.
The night market is famous for its delicious meals. There is a wide variety of local cuisuine to sample.
After a few hours of shopping i decieded to call it a night and head back to the hotel.
Day 2 I took a tour over to Hong Kong Island. It started with a trip up to Victoria Peak on the Peak tram. Once at the top you have an awesome view of Hong Kong island and Victoria Harbour. Next it was off to take a boat ride around Hong Kong Harbour and view some of the container vessels, junks and pleasure craft gliding around the Harbour.
As well as passing by the famous floating resturant it creates and exciting view. Then it was off to the Stanley Street markets. Lots of clothes and souviners here. After browsing around the markets it was time to head back to Kowloon and back to my hotel for a rest before venturing out for a meal for the evening. That evening i headed back down to the Temple street night markets once again.
Day 3 i spent browsing around the shops on Nathan road and some of the large department stores and other markets such as the ladies markets, nearby electronic street (Sai Yeung Choi Street) and Sporting good street (Fa Yuen Street).
Day 4 I had one last chance to browse in nearby shops before it was time to head off to the airport and catch my flight back to Japan.
Hong Kong is well worth the stopover and is great way to break up a long trip to another destination.

There is a Mac Donalds at the end of the road and many local resturants to try as well. Opposite the hotel is a convience store and below there is a supermarket which sells food and alcohol at very cheap prices.
The hotel room has a great view over looking the park and is spacious with a decent size bathroom.
Facilities include:
Electronic keycard system
Touch control air conditioning
Lines for Telephone / Fax / Broadband Internet
Satellite TV, with NHK, BBC, CNN and DW Channel
Safe deposit box
Refrigerator
Hair-dryer
Mini-bar
Complimentary coffee/tea facilities
The room power supply is 220 Volts electricity so make sure to bring the correct adapters so that your electronics will work correctly.
In the lobby there is free internet access which comes in very handy.
There is also the local tourist bus that circles the main tourist areas and it stops right at the end of the road just near the hotel.

Overall this hotel is a reasonable price and in a great location I can highly recommend it.
