Caye 1

A class of 14 from Sir Robert Borden High School in Ottawa, Canada, made a trip to Belize with Island Expeditions. The pictures will explain the rest.

Caye 1

out on the first caye after a sea kayak expedition. Canada's First Palm Tree. :)
Setting out to the cayes was really amazing. After settling down on the first day, the next was full of adventure. We first all learned to manage a sea kayak, then made a short trip (.5km) to another caye, where we first snorkeled. This is also where we got our first Fanta's of the trip. :) The Next day we packed our tents and our clothes into the kayaks, and traveled to the second caye, an 8km trip. We stopped once, at a caye with more fanta, but this time, it had a beach voleyball court set up, and we also had some lunch here. From the first caye to this one was around 3km. From there we headed straight to the Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world (after the one in Australia), and snorkeled. After snorkeling, we made a little pit stop at another caye, where they had a dock that everybody could jump off into the sea of fish. From the first stop to the other was around 2km. From there we headed for the 2nd caye which we would stay at, distracting ourselves from the long kayak trip with some camp songs like "There Was a Moose" and fully finished "99 Bottles of Beer On A Wall", then sung it backwards. Half way through that song backwards, we made it to  the second caye.
