My girls and I left DE on Mother's day for the long trek.  We drove to South of the Border in North Carolina.  It's a tourist trap, but the motel is gated and very secure with security.  You have your own carport.  The rooms are sorely in need of updating, but it is clean! The pool is adequate, it's inside and heated.  Their is a sauna also.  The shops and surrounding area is very kitschy .. a tongue in cheek experience for the true traveler!  Next we headed to Valdosta GA, our old stomping ground.  Met a friend for a very brief visit. We planned to go to Wild Adventures, but alas, they were not open! :( Poor planning on my part.  If you've never been to Wild Adventures, it is worth the trip.  It's a family owned amusement park; they have a small area devoted to wild life, and some good exhibits.  The coasters are good .. and the water park was state of the art when it was built in 2004-5.  From GA we drove to Boca Raton Florida .. spent the day on the beach and enjoyed collecting shells.  We picked my dh up at the Ft. Lauderdale airport on Wed evening.  Spent the night at a hotel in Miami.  Drove to Key West on Thur.  The Keys are beautiful! The drive is so nice, I wish we had time to stop and really explore.  Our friends had their wedding on the beach  .. it was gorgeous!  The next day my girls went parasailing.  I was trying to breathe ... my asthma was completely kicked up! :( We left Key West after their adventure .. and drove to Orlando.  Dropped my dh and youngest at the airport on Sunday a.m. .. then headed up the 95.  Spent the night at the Econolodge in Fayetteville, NC .. clean and very nice!! Home Monday  ... tired driver.  Happy .....
